Footway Improvement at Paper Mill Lane Scheduled for February

I’m pleased to confirm that works to restore the full width of the footway at Paper Mill Lane have now been booked in for February.

Over time, skirting and encroachment have reduced the usable width of the pavement, making it less convenient — and in some cases more difficult — for pedestrians to pass safely. These works will reinstate the footway to its intended width, improving accessibility for residents, parents with pushchairs, wheelchair users, and anyone walking along this route.

The scheme is being funded through my Highways Locality Budget, which allows me to target investment where residents have raised concerns and where relatively small interventions can make a real, practical difference to everyday journeys.

I’m grateful to everyone who has highlighted issues in this area, as this helps ensure funding is directed to the places that matter most locally. I’ll continue to work with highways officers to identify and deliver further improvements across the division.

As always, if you spot a highways issue or have a suggestion for future locality budget funding, please do get in touch.
